Yesterday was a very emotional day for Boris Bitao after crossing the finish line one last time. A mix of sadness and joy, while all staff, riders, fans and family embraced Boris after his last race. His retirement means the decay of a good time which started four seasons ago near Div 8 (not that deep, but almost).
Even most optimistic voices were skeptical about his performance. His arrival increased our level and for the first time, Amstel Flanders had two riders capable of scoring (teamed up with Iranman). Now, considered today as second best rider in our short journey, Mr. Bitao has earned all the appreciation from the team and fans, also a year off from cycling world will clear his thoughts about what to do. He aims to become a team ambassador and represent our team worldwide, attracting sponsors and new ambitious cyclists.
He will be truly missed and no, that’s not a tear sliding down my cheek hehehe. You may wonder why such title if this is a farewell? Alright…
As I said, Boris will be important in the future to convince good riders to make a long career in OCM wearing our colors and grabbing our beer in commercials. While packing his uniform, Wilhelm Lindberg came in the locker room after signing his contract with Manager Williamson. Wilhelm and Boris shook hands at the same time Sam Azargoshasp opened the door. The present and the future, together; both team legends witnessing the beginning of a new dynasty, a long-term dynasty…
In less than five minutes, Lindberg was already red and black, his new colors and posing for the team media. Sam at his right and the retiring star at his left… the Norwegian cyclist seems a bit out of place between those good riders; although he knows he can be like them in the near future.
The fans roared outside our HQ’s when the three cyclists showed up in the front door, waving their hands. Now Wilhelm looks more confident as Sam and Boris rise his arms in the air.
“They are your crowd now,” Iranman told him and Boris nodded. Lindberg is simply in shock. He grins.
The (Kang) Lindberg Dynasty is taking over Amstel Flanders…
Over n’ Out.
